Why Nepal?
Nepal is known for its scenic beauty including majestic Mount Everest,
visited by trekkers and travelers from all over the world. In reality,
Nepal is amongst the poorest and least developed countries in the
world.

In developing countries, life is hard enough for men...
And truth be told, it's even harder for women.
With that in mind, just imagine how difficult life is for a young girl in a developing country?
Yourselves in Their Shoes
Hardship is seen in every village, town, and city in every nation.
What is tragic is that in some areas of the world, young girls are
never given a chance.
Deprived of hope, young girls in Nepal endure hardship and emotional
suffering that is beyond developed country people’s imagination.

Making the Impossible, Possible
It's what we'd like to do, but we can't do it alone.
We need your help, so that they can hope.
And with hope, all things are possible.
We need your help, so that they can hope.
And with hope, all things are possible.
A Balanced Child Strengthens a Community
Nepal House US Chapter was set up with that same underlying hope - to empower local Nepali citizens through longterm focused humanitarian support. The US Chapter is the fundraising branch of the greater Nepal House Society and together with our 2 sister Chapters (Canada and Nepal, Kaski), it set out in Fall 2010 to support the development of an All Girls School.
We're very proud to say that The School officially opened in May 2011 with a Kindergarten class comprised of a dozen students. Nepal House is working with the local region of Pokhara on 3 specific goals: to educate girls in need towards brighter prospects, to counsel them against their past hurts, and to prevent future offenses by better informing their communities. Every year, a new grade will be added. And every day, a new dream is realized. Welcome to the Nepal House US Chapter. We invite you to learn more about us!
AN ORGANIZATION WITH A DIFFERENCE
Educate: It begins by giving the girls the chance to expand their minds, regain confidence, and give them an opportunity to use their creative and intellectual energies. The Nepal House Society has worked to contribute to the efforts of the counselors and faculty by helping to raise money to create a haven for learning and growing. We're very proud to announce that in May 2011, the first official Kindergarten class opened its doors. Over the next few years, we will be seeking to raise more funds to help the school expand, one grade at a time, until we are able to provide classes for elementary students of all ages. Ambitious plans are underway to secure a permanent location, teaching staff, learning materials, and curriculum resources to establish a warm and nurturing educational environment. Proper meals and transportation are other critical elements for the program. Beyond the classroom, our goals are to enable the girls to overcome past trauma through therapy and professional counseling.
Counsel: One of our most important goals is to support the staff and clients of Pokhara Nepal (Kaski District) with the resources and means necessary to conduct sessions of benefit for selected children. This financial support has a huge impact on the chapter, allowing the organization to hire staff that can provide psychological, therapeutic and educational support to local children. This work has now impacted thousands of girls through local orphanage outreach and one-on-one therapy, making sure the girls get the attention and counsel they both need and deserve.
Prevent: By working in coalition with government agencies, The Nepal House Society is striving to educate not only the girls directly affected, but the communities where they live as well. Nepal House counselors have been invited to provide resource materials to support efforts to lower family instability and domestic violence. The first efforts are in the form of brochures, education, and outreach through government agencies in Pokhara.
